Lifestyle Medicine: Use of lifestyle interventions in the treatment and management of disease, including diet, exercise, stress management, smoking cessation, and a variety of other non-drug modalities. A growing body of scientific evidence has demonstrated that lifestyle intervention is an essential component in the treatment of chronic disease that can be as effective as medication, but without the risks and unwanted side-effects.
About Dr Nasim Bahadorani, MBS, DrPH, CHES
I have a doctorate in public health with a major in health education and health promotion from Loma Linda University, School of Public Health. I am a certified health education specialist and public health scientist. I provide consultation in stress management programs and disease prevention interventions. I also have a master's degree in biomedical sciences so I have a unique expertise in understanding pathways of disease. Given my education and experience in public health, I know the strategic models and interventions to prevent them and to promote health.
My latest health and wellness research study was an integrative intervention for stress reduction of a significantly distressed population. Results demonstrated improved health outcomes compared to two control groups. The study has been accepted for oral presentations at national and international professional health conferences such as the American Public Health Association, the International Congress of Behavioral Medicine, the International Qualitative Health Research Conference, the American Psychology Association, and the World Congress of Psychotherapy at UNESCO in Paris.
I also serve as an adjunct lecturer at California State University, Northridge teaching in the Health Sciences Department. I am certified as a Health and Wellness Coach. I focus on health and wellness coaching, because I want to focus on “bridging the gap” between orthodox healthcare within organizational systems and behavioral change, or rather lifestyle medicine. My approach is integrative, whole-person approaches to disease prevention, and health promotion. I am very passionate about promoting health and wellbeing.
